About The Mini Maker

My fascination with miniatures started in my early childhood. However, it wouldn’t be until I became an adult, that I would build my first dollhouse. With no experience or proper tools, I purchased the largest dollhouse kit the store offered. Equipped with a rusty kitchen knife and a tape measure I didn’t even know how to read, I set off on my adventure.

After weeks of setbacks, mistakes, and do-overs, I was ready to unveil my piece of work - and a piece of work it was. The 3 1/2 ft. tall Victorian house leaned precariously to one side. Only two out of the twelve windows were aligned correctly and closed properly, the trim was crooked and uneven, and lastly, the green and white paint job on the exterior was thick and tacky, due to the 10 coats of high gloss paint that was applied. In conclusion, the house was a disaster. Yet, I couldn’t have been happier with my handiwork.

Now that my house was complete the next step was to add furnishings. At the time I was unaware expensive dollhouse furniture is, but I was not going to let this deter me. So, I decided to make my furniture. Yielding the same results as my house, the furniture was not pretty, but again, I was proud of my handiwork. Needless to say, by the end of this experimental foray into the mini world, I was hooked.

Over the next few years, I upgraded my tools and honed my building skills. Building, designing, and creating modern miniatures became a passion, and what started as an accidental hobby became so much more. Having the opportunity to create custom houses, displays, and toys for people of all ages is a joy and has been very rewarding.

Nurturing creativity and encouraging others to discover their unique talents is my top priority. While I do hope my miniatures bring people happiness, I also want to inspire everyone to be creative, and imaginative, and to always dream big, because it’s in the “accidents” one just might discover something new!
